I trade on OKX ten hours a day. In Singapore, they asked me what to fix.
By Julien, That's my Quant, trader and co-founder of Merov
The screen behind me read "VIP Perspectives: What Serious Traders Need Next". In front of me sat OKX's product managers, there to hear exactly that. OKX had invited me to Singapore for TOKEN2049 week. On stage, they introduced our panel as three of their most valued traders.
How I got here
I'm Julien, known online as That's my Quant. I co-founded Merov, a French-language investing media brand and community that partners with OKX. I also run a prop trading firm, and every weekday I trade live on Merov Crypto, our YouTube channel. My edge is order flow: reading who is actually buying and selling, in real time. I moved my trading to OKX this year. The platform now stays open on my screens around ten hours a day. This invitation was earned the slow way: trading in public every day, and sending OKX's product team precise feedback. When we met the OKX team in Barcelona, I asked for scale orders, a single order spread automatically across a range of prices. Today, they're live.
The week, moment by moment
TOKEN2049
TOKEN2049 puts the whole industry in one place for two days: exchanges, funds, builders and institutions. My days were back-to-back meetings with traders and teams I had only known through a screen, between panels on market structure, privacy and on-chain derivatives.
What I took from it: Privacy came up more than I expected. For a trader, privacy means not showing your hand: when every large order is visible, someone else trades on it before you do. It's now a topic I'm following closely on stream.
OKX Now
The day before TOKEN2049, OKX hosted OKX Now. Star Xu, OKX's founder and CEO, opened with a simple thesis: messaging, transport and video are now instant and global, yet money still runs on infrastructure built decades ago. Vitalik Buterin followed, reminding the room that the technology is still improving fast and is far from mature. Then the OKX team showed where the product is heading: crypto and real-world assets in one trading experience, and AI agents connected directly to your account. Later in the week, Star hosted a small group of us for dinner at OKX's Singapore office.
What I took from it: Star's vision is the one we have been building at Merov since day one: a new kind of private banking, open to far more people than private banks have ever served. AI agents are what will power it.
The panel
Gracie Lin, OKX's Regional CEO for Singapore and Australia, moderated. Beside me: vct and Andrew Zhou. The first question: how have you adapted to this market? My answer: AI now lets me process far more data than before, so this cycle my approach is built around order flow. The second was about product feedback. OKX is the only exchange I have traded on where product people join VIP dinners to ask traders what they would change. I am in a direct group chat with members of the product team. When I flagged how TWAP orders (a large order split into small slices over time) were behaving, it got fixed.
What I took from it: Speaking to OKX's leadership as a trader, with real trades and real complaints, did more for my credibility, inside OKX and with my community, than any post could.
The F1 weekend and the paddock
OKX is a McLaren F1 partner. On the Friday, Louis Tam, VP of Strategic Markets, took us into the McLaren paddock. Ninety minutes before the sprint, we watched the mechanics strip the car down and rebuild it. On Sunday, we watched the race from the OKX rooftop above the circuit. I have long compared a trading system to an F1 car. A driver adapts to grip, tyres and weather on every lap. A trading system has to adapt to the market the same way.
What I took from it: Performance is not talent on the day. It is process, adjusted constantly.
The trader community
OKX brought together VIP traders from across Europe, Asia and Australia, including a strong group from Germany. Over dinner on the first evening, traders shared how they were positioned, from grid bots (which buy and sell automatically across a set price range) to hedging. Later in the week, at OKX's Singapore office, I sat down with Didi, a German trader, to compare how we each manage risk. These were frank, technical conversations between people who trade every day. They did not stop when the conference did. Even the commutes turned into strategy sessions.
What I took from it: Every conversation gave me an idea worth testing, and a peer to discuss it with.
The OKX team
What struck me most was the intensity and openness of the people behind the platform: product, business development, the institutional team and the local teams. In the paddock, I interviewed Louis Tam, who told me that around 70% of OKX's roadmap now comes from its community. My experience matches: feedback I sent on grid bots shipped within a few weeks.
What I took from it: My direct line to OKX now has faces behind it. For Merov, it opened a bigger conversation about growing OKX in the French-speaking market.
What it changed for me and my community
For me
Direct access. I now know the people who read my feedback, and they know how I trade. A message to the product team has become a conversation.
Early product knowledge. I saw OKX's roadmap before most of my community had heard of it. When these products launch, I can explain them properly.
Network. Traders from Germany, Asia and Australia, and executives across the industry, I now speak to directly.
For my community
We filmed the whole week: a short for every day of the trip, then a 50-minute vlog on Merov Crypto.
Viewers followed TOKEN2049, OKX Now, the panel and the paddock day by day, with the trading alongside: how I manage positions on the road, like moving a stop to break-even once a trade is working, so a winner cannot turn into a loss. Oscar Piastri also signed caps, which went to members of our community.
What's next
Back home, the daily live streams continue, and so does the feedback loop with OKX. At Merov, Singapore gave us a new goal: building an army of quants. AI agents are putting tools that used to belong to trading desks within reach of anyone willing to learn the process. I will be building that in public, live on Merov Crypto, every weekday at 2 pm Paris time. Come watch how it's done.
